Unraveling Our Property Names
The stories behind why and how we named each of our properties.
As an Airbnb owner, each of my properties is more than just a place for my guests to stay at. They are stories, feelings, and memories. We named our very first property “Genesis” to symbolize the beginning of our vacation rental journey…and the rest is history! These carefully chosen names reflect what my properties mean to me and what I hope they mean to you when you stay with us.
Costa Rica
Hermosa Sunset
Hermosa means “beautiful” in Spanish - one of the first words I learned in the language after visiting Costa Rica for the very first time. When looking to purchase the property, what ultimately sold us was the breathtaking view from the backyard at sunset. Hence, the name “Hermosa Sunset” just felt the most fitting. It is stunning in photos, but you’ll need to see the property in person to appreciate it and truly understand why I chose this name!
Casa del Sol
Translating to “sun house” or “house of the sun,” Casa del Sol radiates happiness! I used the Costa Rican sun as my muse when decorating this property with a bright yellow exterior and pops of yellow throughout the interior. It’s impossible to be sad in a house full of sunshine!
Bahia Beachfront
This property is a gorgeous condo with an spectacular view of the ocean. When you stay at Bahia Beachfront, you’re also only steps away from an amazing pool and the prettiest of beaches. Need I say more?
Muskoka
The Jypsy Inn
Anyone who knows me, knows how much I love my animals. Our pets truly are our best friends in life who are gone far too soon. Our boutique inn is named after our family dog, Jypsy. Jypsy was a shih tsu-poodle who unfortunately passed away the same year we bought the inn and made it our own. It was important to me that her fun-loving, welcoming nature was reflected in each suite and room of the inn.
The Willow
Similarly, our Muskoka cottage is named after my sister’s golden retriever, Willow. She loved the outdoors and heading up north in the summer for cottage weekends. At just five years old, sweet Willow fought a tough battle with cancer before passing away. This property honours her strength, friendliness, and desire to spend time with the people she loved!
