About Us

Our Story

Katie’s Cozy Getaways began with a leap of faith and a whole lot of heart. In 2015, Katie and her husband Bruno took a chance on a little chalet in Blue Mountain — a quiet escape they called The Genesis. What started as one cozy cabin soon became something much bigger: a family-run collection of unique stays designed with intention, warmth, and a personal touch in every corner.

Since then, their passion for creating memorable getaways has grown into something truly special. From that first property to charming stays in Muskoka and beyond, each space is a reflection of Katie’s eye for design, Bruno’s craftsmanship, and their shared love of bringing comfort to others.

Today, the business is still run by the Mitri family — with Katie at the helm, Bruno always nearby, and their four kids playing a part behind the scenes in everything from renovations to guest touches.

Our Values

  • Bathroom with a shower enclosed by glass door, toilet, framed picture, robe hanging on door, a lamp, and toilet paper.

    Comfort With Intention

From calming colour palettes to cozy linens and hand-picked amenities, each space is thoughtfully designed by Katie to help you feel at ease the moment you arrive. Every detail is considered — not just for beauty, but to make your stay feel calm, effortless, and deeply relaxing.

  • A person with a light brown skin tone presses a service bell with their index finger, which is placed on top of the bell’s button. The person’s thumb and other fingers are not visible. The bell is being held by another person wearing a white glove, and the background features blurred warm lights.

    Hospitality from the Heart

We believe great stays are rooted in great care. Whether it’s a quick response when you reach out, help with dinner reservations, or just knowing there’s someone you can text if you need anything — we’re here. Katie personally supports every guest experience with warmth, presence, and pride.

  • Table with a bottle of wine, two wine glasses, a notebook, and a card, with floral curtains, a table lamp, and framed pictures in the background.

    Thoughtful Touches Always

From handwritten notes to unexpected extras, we believe it’s the small things that leave the biggest impression. Every stay includes little moments of care that make your time with us feel special — and remembered.

Why We Do This

A couple embracing on the beach at sunset, with the man kissing the woman's forehead, holding a drink, surrounded by beachgoers, with the ocean and sunset in the background.

Before hosting, Katie was a fitness instructor — a career she loved until she was diagnosed with chronic Lyme disease. When teaching became too physically demanding, she shifted her energy toward something new: creating spaces for others to rest, reset, and reconnect.

That spark of purpose turned into a full-blown family business — a way to keep creating, caring, and connecting with people from all over the world.

Whether it’s your first stay or your fifth, we’re here to make it easy, welcoming, and full of thoughtful touches you’ll remember.

A woman with short hair wearing a bikini is jumping in the ocean while other children are playing in the water nearby, with the sunset sky in the background.
